The Torso Project

Imaginatively transformed mannequin torsos were installed on Crescent Beach at low tide. Throughout a peaceful sunny day, a steady stream of curious onlookers and willing participants interacted with the artists and their work. By the time the tide reached the mannequin poles, there was a lively group of viewers standing in the warm water, chatting, and taking photos – as if at a gallery’s opening night. As the tide rose one of the torsos broke loose floating down along the beach, to be rescued by an energetic swimmer who was cheered on by those on the shore.
